Get ready, Cardiff! πΆ Huge green walls are popping up around Bute Park for the much-awaited Blackweir Live concert series. Returning for its second year, the event promises a phenomenal line-up featuring The Cure, Pitbull, Lewis Capaldi, and Teddy Swims from June 24 to July 4. π

But while music fans are thrilled, some locals aren’t too pleased. Last year’s concerts, which featured stars like Alanis Morissette and Stevie Wonder, stirred up controversy due to restricted park access and increased traffic and noise. Cardiff Council defends the event, emphasising that revenue will support the upkeep of parks and grassroots music.

However, Cardiff Civic Society argues that the park should remain a space for public enjoyment, not private events. They’re also concerned about environmental impacts. πΆββοΈπ³
Drivers, take note! There will be road closures in the city centre during the gigs, so plan ahead. ππ And for those relying on public transport, check the councilβs updates to stay informed.
What do you think about Bute Park hosting events like this? Is it a helpful revenue stream, or does it spoil the city’s green spaces? Join the conversation!π
