Exciting things are happening at Graigddu Tip in the Rhondda as we kick off a massive project to make the old coal tip safer. This multi-million-pound investment will stabilise the ground, making our community more secure.

Starting from Monday, July 27th, we’ll see some changes around town as the works begin. Expect a road closure at Graigddu Road and Vicarage Road and keep an eye out for the redirection of the 173 Stagecoach and Thomas of Rhondda bus services. Don’t worry, there’s an alternative route via Vicarage Road and Dinas Road, although pedestrians and emergency services will be affected.

The good news? This project isn’t just about safety – it includes significant drainage improvements and localised stabilisation, all thanks to the fantastic support from the Welsh Government and a dedicated team from Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd and Stantec.

For those who live nearby, rest assured that a temporary access road will keep things moving for residents at Graigddu Farm. And if you have questions about the works or need a chat about the local impact, Neil Evans, our friendly liaison officer, is just a call or email away.

We’re thrilled to see such a commitment to safety and community enhancement in the Rhondda! Stay tuned for updates and remember, a bit of patience goes a long way for a brighter, safer tomorrow.

🤝 Let’s support this essential work together, Rhondda!
