In a harrowing case that highlights the severity of domestic abuse, 43-year-old Kenneth Crane from Barry has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for his appalling crimes. Crane subjected his victim to months of abuse, including locking her in a house, demanding her phone, and committing rape. His victim faced horrific ordeals such as being threatened with a knife, strangled, and subjected to degrading demands. He even threatened to share private images of her on social media.

Despite initially denying the charges, Crane was found guilty of multiple offences, including rape, false imprisonment, and intimidation. In court, the victim bravely shared her struggles with how the abuse changed her life, expressing both the pain and frustration at the impact he had on her.

Detective Constable Sophia Jackson-Johns described Crane as “depraved” and praised the courage of the victim for coming forward. She emphasised that Crane will “spend this Christmas and many more behind bars,” while expressing hope that the victim can begin to heal and reclaim her life.
