A Newport man who fancied himself the ‘boy genius’ of crime, likening his exploits to the cartoon character Jimmy Neutron, has been repeatedly caught by police. Ellis Driscoll, 26, was first snagged last December during a routine stop when police found him with two mates and a stash of Class A substances in a car with a dodgy licence plate. Among their treasures were a Nokia burner phone and a sprinkle of cannabis, right where Driscoll was perched.

Despite his bold moves, Driscoll’s criminal magic couldn’t outmatch the police detectives. His phones exposed a digital diary filled with drug deals and videos flaunting cash. After a few rounds with the law, this chap couldn’t resist getting back into mischief, eventually being caught with more than £3,500 worth of naughty treats like heroin, crack cocaine, and cannabis.

PC Jack Davies described Driscoll’s operation as the “Jimmy Neutron” line, citing evidence that included text bombs, voice memos, and video brags about his supposed dough-making exploits. Clearly not taking his legal troubles to heart, Driscoll pled guilty to dealing and was handed an eight-year stint behind bars by Cardiff Crown Court.
Driscoll’s case serves as a reminder of the often single-minded nature of drug dealers, who prioritise profits over the wellbeing of the community. PC Davies encourages anyone suspecting drug activities in their area to reach out and help keep the streets safer for everyone.
