His mum, Grace Bell, was born with a rare condition known as MRKH, meaning she never had a fully formed womb. Thanks to an anonymous donor’s life-giving gift and the skill of dedicated medical professionals, Grace’s dream of becoming a mum came true.

Grace, an IT whiz, and dad Steven Powell, who works in finance, are overjoyed with their little bundle of joy. Grace expressed her limitless gratitude for the donor and their family, saying, “Their kindness has let me fulfil my lifelong dream. I think of my donor and her family every day.”

Grace underwent the womb transplant in 2024, followed by fertility treatment, and now cuddles cutie Hugo every morning. The grateful parents named him Hugo Richard Norman Powell, paying tribute to both Professor Richard Smith, who led the charity Womb Transplant UK, and Grace’s grandfather.

Professor Smith shared the emotional moment in the delivery room, saying, “It was a truly joyful atmosphere, filled with happiness.” Only around 25 to 30 babies have been born worldwide from deceased womb donations, making Hugo a truly special miracle.

Grace and Steven’s journey from uncertainty to the joy of parenthood is awe-inspiring. They’re considering expanding their family, with potentially more exciting news in the future.

Grace hopes this story inspires others about the life-changing impact of organ donation, encouraging families to consider giving this ultimate gift of life and hope.

Let’s celebrate this fantastic breakthrough and little Hugo, who already represents a miracle to his proud parents and the world. 💙✨
