🎭 *Monty Python Fans, We’ve Got Some Sad News!* 🎭

Just weeks after its grand unveiling, the brand new statue of comedy legend Terry Jones in Colwyn Bay has been vandalised. 😢

Crafted in honour of the Monty Python star, the bronze sculpture captures Jones as the iconic “Nude Organist,” complete with quirky features that evoke his whimsical spirit. While his famous “wonderfully generous bottom” remains untouched, alas, two whimsical door knockers referencing his work on the film *Labyrinth* weren’t so lucky. They’ve been ripped off, but fortunately, kind-hearted passers-by found the pieces and saved them, hoping for repairs. 🚪🔔

Paying tribute to the enigmatic comedian, the statue was funded by a sterling £120,000 raised in just six months via the “Python on the Prom” campaign, spearheaded by fellow Pythons Sir Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. An impressive gathering, including Sir Michael and Eddie Izzard, attended the statue’s launch, a fitting tribute in the town Jones loved dearly.
Local sculptor Nick Elphick, who designed this lifelike masterpiece, expressed his disappointment upon discovering the damage. However, there’s hope for justice—CCTV cameras overlook the site, and there’s confidence the culprits will be caught. 📹🕵️♂️
Bay of Colwyn town councillor Tina Lee also weighed in on the incident, voicing her disappointment. The statue stands without a pedestal, inviting visitors to get up close and personal with Jones’ bronze likeness. The pranksters’ antics won’t dampen the community’s spirits, though, and plans are already in motion to restore the statue to its former glory.
In memory of Terry Jones, may his delightful irreverence and comedic genius continue to inspire and entertain for years to come! 💫
