ππ An Unexpected Passenger on a London Bus! ππ

Imagine getting on your usual London bus, only to find a tiny mystery onboard! That’s exactly what happened on a 302 route in Kensal Rise. A bus driver discovered a terrified common marmoset in a laundry bag on Friday morning.

According to the RSPCA, a mum with a pushchair struggled to navigate past an awkwardly placed bag. Our heroic bus driver stepped in to lend a hand, only to find the bag was home to a chirping, jumping monkey! Without a second thought, the driver turned the bus around, heading straight to the depot, and called for animal rescue.
The marmoset, a female now affectionately named “Oyster” after her unexpected bus journey, was found in a small birdcage wrapped in a plastic laundry bag. Despite her adventure, Oyster is in good health, although understandably stressed and dehydrated. She’s been transferred to a sanctuary, where she’s slowly settling in and being prepared to meet a new male marmoset friend. Destiny, some might say!
Wildlife campaigners believe this unusual abandonment could be linked to recent changes in legislation requiring licences for keeping primates. The RSPCA has launched an investigation and is checking CCTV to track down who left Oyster. They’re appealing for anyone with info to step forward.
A shoutout to the bus driver and Metroline team for their quick thinking and careβtrue local heroes! π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ
Let’s hope Oyster finds happiness in her new home, and we get to the bottom of this wild tale! π If you know anything about her journey, contact the RSPCA appeal line at 0300 123 8018.
