A Worcester family is urgently seeking help after a devastating holiday incident in Montenegro left a mum and daughter with severe injuries. Helen Barratt and her 19-year-old daughter Nell had just arrived for their getaway when they were hit by a car while walking on a footpath in Budva. Within hours of their arrival, the tragic accident occurred, resulting in serious head wounds and multiple fractures. Now stranded overseas, the duo is in dire need of medical repatriation to the UK.

Their family’s worst nightmare has been complicated further; their global health insurance had expired, leaving them to face hefty medical transport costs alone. To support their return and ensure they get essential medical care, a GoFundMe page aims to raise £40,000. Ella, Helen’s other daughter, shared in a heartfelt Facebook post how both her mum and sister are suffering and stressed the urgent need for a safe journey home.

The campaign has already seen a positive response, with nearly £10,000 raised. However, there’s still a long way to go to reach the goal. Nina Tribe, who set up the appeal, expressed the urgency: “A car came from nowhere, knocking them unconscious. They’ve been in hospital since, unable to move due to spinal, pelvic, and collarbone fractures.”

This family’s struggle highlights the importance of community support. They’ve called on well-wishers to continue sharing their story and contribute to the fund if possible. Every donation brings Helen and Nell closer to the care they desperately need back in the UK. Let’s rally together to get them home! 💙🚑
