📍 Where: M4 near Newport
📅 When: June 3, 2022
Mr Symonds was investigating his car’s issues under the bonnet when the crash occurred. The impact was so severe it sent his vehicle flying 50 metres down the road. The aftermath was devastating – a bleed on the brain, a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and more.
In court, Mr Symonds shared the lasting impact on his life: struggles with anxiety, disrupted sleep, and a reluctance to socialise or attend his beloved association meetings. “It’s impacted me both physically and mentally,” he admitted, highlighting how his once-active lifestyle has changed dramatically.
Jones, from Mountain Ash, admitted to causing serious injury by driving without due care. Despite being described as a “hard-working, decent man,” the consequences were severe. He’s now sentenced to a 12-month community order, 200 hours of unpaid work, and a 12-month driving ban.
Let’s hope this serves as a reminder to drive safely and attentively. 🙏
