🌟 Glamping plans scrapped! 🌟

A glamping site proposal near Abergavenny, featuring alpacas and idyllic countryside views, has been shut down due to concerns about noise disturbance. Neighbours of Amberleigh House raised the alarm over potential ‘shenanigans’ from the site that could host 28 guests in shepherd huts and bell tents.
Councillor Dale Rooke highlighted how tents aren’t soundproof, meaning any late-night antics would travel easily. Monmouthshire County Council sided with the neighbours, rejecting the plans despite a recommendation for approval from planning officers. The narrow access roads and proximity to homes were additional sticking points.

Although applicant Elizabeth Pengelly of Cwtch Glamping Ltd appealed the decision, inspector Lowri Hughson-Smith upheld it, agreeing the quiet vibe of the area might be disrupted. Concerns included late-night check-ins, early departures, and general comings-and-goings impacting the peaceful surroundings.

Despite arguments about existing noise from nearby transport links, the inspector found the location generally quite tranquil. Unfortunately for glamping fans, the proposed separation and curfew plans didn’t convince authorities that noise would be manageable.
The decision underscores the importance of considering local residents’ peace and maintaining the serene quality of rural neighbourhoods. 🏞️✨ #GlampingDrama #CountrysidePeace #CommunityMatters
