Tragedy strikes again at Bristol Harbour. Last night, police discovered the body of a missing man in the water, weeks after a Welsh police officer was found dead in the same location. The man, identified as 50-year-old Matthew, had been missing for ten days. Sadly, this marks another heartbreaking incident after PC Rehaan Akhtar’s death just a month ago.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed Matthew’s body was found in the Harbourside area. While formal identification is pending, his family has been informed and is receiving support. The police have stated that the death is currently being treated as “unexplained, but not suspicious,” reassuring the public that there’s no immediate cause for concern.

The sudden loss of two lives at the same location has cast a shadow over the area. Matthew was last seen near the harbour area on December 11th, and his disappearance had prompted a widespread search effort. Meanwhile, the community is still mourning PC Akhtar, who went missing following a night out before his body was recovered from the harbour on November 24th. His post-mortem revealed that he drowned.
The police are preparing a file for the coroner as part of their routine procedure. They continue to thank the public for their assistance and patience during such a difficult time. Let’s keep the families affected in our thoughts and hope for clarity and healing in the days to come. Stay tuned for more updates.
