Exciting changes are coming to Gnoll Country Park! 🚴♂️ Neath Port Talbot Council has given the green light to amend a local bye-law, allowing cycling through Neath’s historic memorial gates and throughout the Gnoll Estate. This decision marks the beginning of a new active travel route connecting the town of Neath to Cimla, making it easier and safer for residents to travel on foot or by bike.

The push for this change came after recognising the dangers posed by the existing active travel routes on busy roads like Cimla Road – deemed too steep – and the B4287. Now, thanks to a public consultation, cycling enthusiasts can look forward to exploring this beautiful park on two wheels without stepping on any toes (or paths).
In response to public concerns, the council ensured that the new paths will respect the original charm of the area. While some were worried about the impact on the aesthetic around the memorial gates, rest assured – there won’t be any new tarmac added. Instead, the emphasis will be on sharing the current route with other users, promoting harmony among walkers and cyclists alike.

This change is just a part of the significant £12m redevelopment that Gnoll Country Park recently underwent. The renovations included a new accessible two-storey visitor centre and careful restoration of the Gnoll House ruins. Plus, there’s an exciting addition—a new bridge linking the park with Brynau Farm, along with dog-friendly holiday accommodation for up to six visitors!
More family-friendly travel options and chances to connect with nature are on their way. So, dust off your walking shoes or pump up those bike tyres, and explore the updated beauty of Gnoll Country Park! 🌳🛤️
