✈️ Heads up, parents! Big changes are coming to UK airports from July 8! If your little ones were born after 2017, there’s good news. They can now whizz through the eGates at over a dozen UK airports, making travel quicker and easier.

Here’s the scoop: kids aged eight and nine who are at least 120cm tall can now breeze through the eGate with you. This means less waiting, more exploring, and a whole lot less hassle at passport control! 🙌

Why the change? The UK government aims to make holiday travel smoother for families. Plus, more people using eGates should speed things up for everyone passing through. Before this switch, only those aged 10 and over could use the gates.
To use an eGate, ensure your child has a biometric passport symbol. This includes British citizens and nationals from EU countries, Australia, Canada, and a few more.
Officials are buzzing about this move. Mike Tapp, Minister for Migration and Citizenship, says this will make travel way less stressful for families this summer. And it’s backed up by Karen Dee from AirportsUK, who’s excited about faster border processes and reduced waiting times.
Started in 2008, eGates have been a game-changer for speed and security. Now, with more eligible travellers, we can only expect things to get even better. So, whether you’re jetting off from Heathrow, Manchester, or any other major UK airport, get ready for a smoother start to your holiday! 🌟
Let’s make those airport lines a thing of the past and keep our travel experience as fun as our holiday adventures! 🏖️✈️
