Attention, Wales! A snowy spell is on the way, and it could bring a bit of a winter wonderland—along with travel chaos. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow from 4pm Wednesday afternoon to 6am Thursday morning, covering a huge swathe of the country.

Expect this wintry mix to make roads and railways tricky to navigate for those 14 hours. The snow is forecasted to settle mostly on higher ground, including areas like Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, and many more. If you live in one of these places, be ready for potential snowfalls of 2-5cm above 150-200 metres, and possibly even 10-15cm on the highest peaks.
The snow isn’t coming quietly, either—strong winds from the east and northeast could make conditions even more challenging, particularly on the roads. The snowfall might be lighter at lower altitudes, with less than 2cm dusting some areas.

Wondering where the snow will be heaviest? Early on, expect some snow in the highest parts of the country, but by 7pm, much of Wales could be under a blanket of white, with the deepest drifts appearing in mid and southeast Wales. Maps show the white stuff sticking around until about 6am on Thursday, but hang in there—most of it should clear up quickly after that.
Stay safe, stay warm, and maybe even enjoy a bit of sledging if it snows enough! Don’t forget to check travel updates before you head out, and let’s hope for a picturesque, peaceful kind of snow day. ❄️🥶#WalesWeather #SnowWarning #StaySafe
