🎓 Meet Bernice Juxon-Jones, the 92-year-old dynamo who just graduated from Swansea University, proving it’s never too late to chase your academic dreams! 🌟
With a freshly minted master of philosophy in medieval German under her belt, Bernice continues her lifelong love affair with learning. Her fascination with languages began at just six years old when she found an ancient German grammar book. From those early Gothic script days, she journeyed through A-levels, a BA, and an MA across various languages including German, Old Norse, and Spanish.
After starting as an art teacher in Swansea, Bernice’s passion for languages saw her teaching French and German at a comprehensive school in Port Talbot. Her academic achievements bloomed under the mentorship of French teacher, Kathleen Hennessy, paving the way for a successful BA.
Her adventures took her to Bermuda, earning a BA in German, and an MA in Spanish after an inspiring summer in Salamanca. She didn’t stop there—Bernice achieved an MA in humanities from California State University, graduating with a perfect GPA! 📚
In 2019, she embarked on her latest academic quest, delving into “Parzival” and its themes of transformation and redemption, guided by her faith. She dreams of continuing her education until she departs “for somewhere better,” and credits the nuns from her convent school with setting her on this noble path.
Bernice is the epitome of dedication and resilience, inspiring everyone she meets with her insatiable curiosity and zest for knowledge. Her journey is a true testament to the fact that learning knows no age limits. Let’s raise a toast to this incredible achievement and the boundless possibilities of lifelong learning! 🍾 #NeverTooLate #LifelongLearning #Inspiration
