Obsessive stalker’s disturbing fantasies laid bare in police interrogation

A chilling case of obsession has come to light as a 67-year-old stalker, Zulfkar Ahmed, has been sentenced to three years in prison for relentlessly harassing a woman with unwanted texts and unwanted attention. Ahmed, who insanely misinterpreted the woman’s clear rejections as “mixed signals,” bombarded her with around 10,000 texts over three years. He even had the audacity to show up uninvited at her workplace and events.

Ahmed’s twisted rationale, claiming that “no sometimes means yes,” highlights the delusion he harboured. Despite the woman obtaining a stalking protection order, he brazenly ignored it and continued his disturbing behaviour, leaving her in constant fear. His obsession didn’t stop with just one victim; Ahmed also targeted another woman working in a homeware store in Cardiff.

South Wales Police’s detective constable Poppy Gosling, who led the investigation, condemned Ahmed’s concerning behaviour and praised the bravery of the women for coming forward. She hopes Ahmed’s imprisonment will provide some peace to those affected.
