Ever seen police officers hitch a ride on a golf buggy? That’s exactly what happened when Gwent Police officers found themselves in an unusual chase on a golf course in Caerphilly last Friday.
While out on routine patrol, the officers spotted a 51-year-old suspected shoplifter trying to hide out in the bushes near the golf course. Not letting him get away, they embarked on an impromptu adventure across the greens. With help still some distance away, a friendly golfer offered them his trusty golf buggy to assist in the pursuit!
The buggy proved to be the perfect vehicle as the officers managed to catch up to the suspect and arrest him on suspicion of robbery. It’s not every day you see the police cruising across a fairway in hot pursuit. The suspect was promptly taken into custody for questioning, thanks to the quick-thinking golfer who chipped in with his buggy.
It’s certainly a day these officers will never forget – proof that fighting crime can take the most unexpected twists! Keep an eye out for more quirky stories like this.
