🏂 Olympic skiing superstar Lindsey Vonn has shared a heartfelt update following a terrifying crash at the Winter Olympics. After being airlifted to a hospital in Italy with severe leg injuries, she’s finally been discharged and is back in the States for further treatment.

What went down? Vonn suffered a complex tibia fracture, a broken ankle, and the risky complication known as compartment syndrome. In a candid Instagram video, she opened up about her ordeal, expressing immense gratitude for Dr. Tom Hackett, who performed a critical surgery that quite literally saved her leg from amputation.

🔧 The doc performed a fasciotomy, a procedure that released and relieved pressure in the affected area, allowing her injuries to heal properly. Lindsey says, “He saved my leg,” and she’s grateful for the six-hour operation that followed. Talk about a real-life hero!

🩺 Following a total of four surgeries, Vonn battled through pain, low haemoglobin levels due to blood loss, and even required a blood transfusion. Overcoming these challenges wasn’t easy, but Lindsey’s indomitable spirit shines through.
Now on the road to recovery, she mentioned she’s in a wheelchair for now and hopes to transition to crutches in a few weeks. Her journey to full recovery is expected to take about a year, and she’s determined to tackle it one step at a time. 💪
🌟 Lindsey shared, “I’m finally out of the hospital!!! It’s not home yet, but it’s a huge step!” Keeping her spirits high, she’s ready to take on rehab with the same dedication she showed on the slopes.
Let’s send all our love and support to Lindsey as she conquers yet another challenging chapter in her inspiring life. Keep pushing, Lindsey! We’re all cheering for you. 🥇💖
