Want your milk to last longer? Avoid storing it in the fridge door! While it’s convenient and keeps your milk within easy reach, it turns out this is not the best spot for longevity. Every time you open the fridge, the door experiences a temperature change, which can cause milk to spoil faster.

For fresher milk, consider storing it at the back of the fridge instead. This spot stays consistently cool, away from the fluctuating temperatures of the outside air, helping your milk stay fresh for longer.

Thinking of freezing milk? It’s a great option, but remember these tips: freeze it as soon as you get home, ideally before the best-before date. Transfer the milk into a safe, airtight container, as it expands when frozen. When you need it, defrost in the fridge for at least 24 hours and consume within a couple of days. Never refreeze defrosted milk!
TV’s Dr Xand van Tulleken also weighed in on fridge storage. He mentioned that while keeping milk in the door is convenient, especially for those who use it quickly, milk can spoil rapidly. If you’re not using it up fast, the middle shelf is a better choice.
Remember, the smell test isn’t always reliable. Milk can harbour harmful bugs even if it smells fine, so store it wisely to enjoy fresh, safe milk! 🥛#MilkStorage #FridgeTips #LifeHacks
