🚨 Warning: Norovirus Alert! 🚨

Hey folks, if you’re in Swansea or Neath Port Talbot, heads up! Swansea Bay University Health Board is raising the alarm about a nasty bug on the move—norovirus, often dubbed the “winter vomiting bug.”
😷 This highly infectious virus is causing a stir, spreading through the community, and hospitals are on high alert. If you’re under the weather with symptoms like vomiting and diarrhoea, or have been taking care of someone who’s ill, please steer clear of visiting hospitals for at least 72 hours after your symptoms have cleared. This virus spreads easily and lingers even after you start feeling better.

🦠 Wondering how it spreads? Norovirus can hitch a ride via contaminated food like shellfish, or through close contact with someone infected. It can also land on surfaces when symptoms strike, so touching contaminated items can pass it along if you’re not careful. Keep those hands clean to stop the spread—soap and water are your best friends here, as some hand sanitisers won’t work against this virus!
🤧 What to watch for: Symptoms include nausea, diarrhoea, and vomiting, along with potential fever, headaches, and aching limbs. They usually pop up a day or two after infection, can be handled at home, and generally disappear in a few days.
🚰 Stay safe with these simple tips: wash hands thoroughly after using the loo, before cooking or eating, and after touching common surfaces like shopping trolleys. It’s all about keeping you and your loved ones healthy!
Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe. Take care and keep those hands super clean! 🧼💧
