Okay, here’s a hot take: the dog beach ban in Wales is outdated and needs a revamp! From 1st May to 30th September, dogs are banned from some of our favourite beaches like Tenby North and South, Aberavon, Mwnt, and Barry Island. Yes, an outright ban with fines up to Β£1,000 if your furry friend even touches that glorious sand! 😲

If you’ve ever strolled through the aftermath of a sunny beach day, you know what I’m talking about: leftover barbecues, plastic bags, broken beach toys, and even used cigarettes scattered all over! It’s not our four-legged pals littering, that’s for sure. In fact, last August saw more than 400kg of rubbish left on Porthcawl’s Sandy Bay alone. 😱

And let’s chat about Aberavon Beach, where dogs are now banned. Nearby residents have voiced concerns over anti-social human behaviour, not canine chaos! Maybe it’s time enforcement officers focus on these issues rather than chasing tail-waggers off the sand.

With a whopping 35% of Welsh households now owning a dog, it’s clear our pups are family too. And just like us, they deserve a breath of fresh sea air without a 24/7 ban. πŸΆπŸ’•

Times have changed, and our policies should too. So, what do you think? Are we ready for a beach policy that keeps both pups and people happy? Let’s dive into a conversation and see where it leads! πŸŒŠπŸ•β€πŸ¦Ίβœ¨
