🎄 Oh dear, it’s happened again! The Christmas tree in Ruthin’s St Peter’s Square was found damaged yet again over the weekend. This marks the third time in recent years that the festive centrepiece has been wrecked while positioned near the town clock. Last year it escaped unharmed due to a temporary relocation, but it wasn’t so lucky this time.

Several branches were snapped and lights torn down, leaving the town in dismay. CCTV footage is being reviewed and shared with the police. But here’s the silver lining: the person responsible has bravely stepped forward to take full responsibility and promised to cover the repair costs.

Councillor Gavin Harris shares that the Ruthin town council has already fixed the tree with the help of local contractors. The response from the community has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many appreciating the accountability shown by the guilty party. As one local put it, “Fair play for owning up and sorting it out!”
Let’s hope this Christmas brings more festive cheer and less tree trauma. Thanks to everyone who’s pitched in to get the town’s centrepiece back to its sparkling self! ✨
