🔍 **Fly Tipping Frenzy in Rhondda Cynon Taf! 🌳**

Over 6,700 reports of fly tipping were made in just one year across Rhondda Cynon Taf. The figures, collected from June 2024 to June 2025, highlight the ongoing challenge faced by local councils in tackling this environmental issue. From a single plastic bag to large waste heaps, it’s all being reported as fly tipping!

With 18 successful prosecutions last year, the council is actively working to combat this problem. But with only a small enforcement team, capturing everyone responsible is no easy feat. Alistair Critchlow from the council’s public spaces team stresses the importance of behaviour change, questioning why anyone would think it’s acceptable to dump waste at all.
Beyond fly tipping, RCT’s public spaces department received thousands of reports on other issues—littering, overgrowth, and even dog fouling made the list. The council continues to work on managing these challenges, while community recycling centres offer a proper way to dispose of waste.
Steve Williams from environmental services notes the immense resources needed to tackle these problems, especially when waste is dumped in hard-to-reach places like Bwlch mountain. And yet, much of the garbage could be recycled.
🤔 What can we do? Stronger punishments, more awareness, and better facilities might help. What do you think? Should we crack down harder on fly-tippers or find alternative solutions? Let’s open up the discussion below! ⬇️
