If you’re planning to travel eastbound, mark your calendars for an overnight closure starting at 10pm on Wednesday, 15th October until 6am on Thursday, 16th October. This critical maintenance is necessary due to a safety defect detected on the eastbound side.

Traffic Updates
While cars and light vehicles can use the M48 Severn Bridge as an alternative route, lorries over 7.5 tonnes will have to take a longer detour. The diversion for these heavy vehicles will lead you from junction 24 of the M4, along the A449, A40, and M50, to hit the M5 at junction 8 before reconnecting with the M4 at the Almondsbury interchange.
