🚨 Attention all parents planning farm visits this spring! 🚜🌼

Public Health Wales is urging families with young children to be extra cautious during farm trips this lambing season. Last year, nearly 90 people fell ill due to cryptosporidium—a pesky parasite causing stomach upset—after attending lamb-feeding sessions at a Welsh farm.

Here’s how you can keep your little ones safe while soaking up the countryside vibes:
🐑 **Avoid Cuddling Lambs:** As adorable as they are, snuggling lambs can spread infection. Keep your distance.
🧼 **Wash Those Hands:** After touching animals or farm surfaces, wash hands well with warm, soapy water. Hand gels just don’t cut it!
👶 **Keep a Close Eye on Kids:** Make sure they wash hands and never eat or drink near animals.
👢 **Dress Smart:** Wear suitable clothing and clean soiled items right away.
Farms are a fun family day out, but remember: hygiene is key! Cryptosporidium can cause severe diarrhoea, vomiting, and fatigue, especially in young children.
If any illness pops up after your visit, contact your GP or NHS 111, and stay home until symptom-free for 48 hours.
Dr Andrew Nelson from Public Health Wales reminds us, “Lambing season is an opportunity to enjoy the countryside. Let’s do it safely by keeping a safe distance from lambs and prioritising good hygiene.”
Enjoy a safe and playful farm adventure this spring! 🌿🐑
