In a shocking case of domestic abuse, Ethan-Lee Sebastian-Jones from St Clears has been sentenced after a terrifying campaign against his partner. Armed with a pellet gun, he intimidated her in their own home, often holding it to her head. The court heard how he isolated her from friends and family, controlled her social media, and even demanded proof of her whereabouts.

Sebastian-Jones’ abusive actions went beyond intimidation—he often pinched, pushed, and grabbed his partner by the throat, leaving her feeling like a “broken shell” of her former self. But she’s fighting back. Counselling has rekindled a determination in her to support other domestic abuse survivors.

The abuser, whose controlling behaviour lasted for 15 months, changed his plea to guilty for coercive control and criminal damage after initially denying the charges. Although his defence argued lack of maturity, the court was unpersuaded, handing down a 16-month prison sentence, half of which he’ll serve in custody.

Judge Huw Rees highlighted the intense fear his victim lived under and emphasised the ongoing impact of such a destructive relationship. This case underscores the horrific reality many face behind closed doors.
