Five years ago, Abbey Palmer’s life took an unexpected turn when she slipped and broke her ankle in a freak accident. Although the bones healed, Abbey was left battling severe pain that’s only grown worse over time. Despite undergoing various treatments, surgeries, and being on a mix of medications, the agony persisted.

Abbey’s journey with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and painful osteoarthritis has been relentless, leaving her unable to walk more than 20 metres without a wheelchair. Desperate to reclaim her life, Abbey has made the brave decision to have her right leg amputated, hoping this will finally free her from the crippling pain.
Despite the challenges ahead, including the risk of phantom limb pain and uncertainty about using a prosthetic leg, Abbey is optimistic and excited about the possibility of living pain-free. She dreams of walking her dog, playing with her children, and simply enjoying the little things in life that many take for granted.

Abbey’s husband, Rob, has been her rock, having left his IT job to support her and their two children. The couple is raising funds to get an electric wheelchair to enhance Abbey’s mobility post-surgery, ensuring she has the best chance at recovery.

It’s a story of resilience and hope, where Abbey’s unyielding spirit shines through, ready to embrace a new chapter. If you feel touched by Abbey’s journey, consider supporting her in achieving a future where pain doesn’t dictate her life.
