So, what are beer bikes? Imagine a large cart powered by your own pedals, wheeling through the streets of Cardiff or Bristol, sipping your favourite brew. Perfect for stag and hen parties but not exactly the police’s cup of…beer.

At a recent licensing hearing, held surprisingly far from Cardiff in Bath, objections were raised over potential public nuisance and the unusual choice of location for the booze storage. But Beer Travel Ltd defended their decision, citing financial reasons and their intent to operate within a regulated framework.

Chris Grunert, solicitor for the company, emphasised that Beer Travel Ltd wants to run a responsible service: “We are doing exactly what we should be doing.” In fact, renting a beer bike could even be a bring-your-own affair, avoiding licensing entirely!

Ultimately, after agreeing on 31 conditions to keep things in check, the license was granted. Cheers to more pedalling pints through Cardiff’s scenic streets, all within the rules – or #BeerBikes if you do stop on Insta!
