An e-bike rider, Jordan Willetts, shocked everyone when he slammed into Sam Bevan on Fairoak Avenue, Newport, and left him lying unconscious in the street. Imagine closing your car boot, checking for traffic, and crossing the street only to be met with a shocking hit-and-run! 😱

On the evening of November 11, the tranquillity was shattered when Willetts, speeding on the WRONG side of the road, struck Sam, who was then knocked out cold, unable to recall the incident. Willetts had been recklessly riding the wrong way on a roundabout just moments before. After the collision, instead of seeking help, he simply got up, looked at Sam lying there, and rode off. Unbelievable, right?

The court heard Willetts claim he thought he was being robbed. However, the judge quickly dismissed this excuse, seeing the act for what it was: a dangerous breach of road safety. Willetts admitted to dangerous driving, failing to stop, and riding without the required motorcycle licence.

With a suspended 12-month prison sentence, coupled with 150 hours of community service and a 30-month driving ban, Willetts faces the consequences of his action. He also has to pay £1,000 to the victim, covering further costs. The ride might have been swift, but justice was sure to follow!
