A notorious sex offender in Exeter has been brought to justice after a shocking arrest in a local McDonald’s. Sonny Boyes, 19, was apprehended by police right at his seat in the bustling restaurant, much to the shock of other customers present.

The dramatic arrest happened after Boyes attacked two teenage girls in Digby. He committed horrific acts against a 16-year-old girl near the train station and sexually assaulted another 17-year-old victim as she waited for her train. His vile behaviour was swiftly reported to the authorities, resulting in his rapid arrest later that evening.

Boyes was fully aware of his actions, yet he protested during his arrest, showing blatant disrespect and a lack of remorse. His trial at Exeter Crown Court concluded with a conviction of two rapes, multiple assaults by penetration, and other sexual offences. The judge handed him a hefty 17-year sentence, recognising the significant danger he posed to the public.
Detective Constable Jordan Pearce praised the immense bravery of the victims who reported these heinous crimes. Their courage, alongside the swift actions of witnesses and train staff, was crucial in ensuring Boyes was captured and justice was served. This sentencing marks a critical reminder of the importance of community action and the strength of victims to come forward against such appalling conduct.
The court not only sentenced Boyes to prison but also imposed a life-long sex offender registry and a sexual harm prevention order. This includes restrictions against interacting with women in public and using public transport while under the influence.
Let this serve as a powerful stance against sexual violence—those who commit such crimes will be held accountable. Kudos to the brave victims and the dedicated law enforcement officers for seeing justice through.
