Planning drama at Park Farm Holiday Park in Pembrokeshire! The bid to swap touring caravan pitches for static caravans at this popular holiday spot has hit a roadblock.

The park owners had hoped to make the switch without going through the formal planning permission process. But the local planning authority had other ideas, rejecting the application for a lawful development certificate. The plan was to replace touring caravans with larger static ones, anticipating a reduction in numbers due to their size. But this idea didn’t wash with the authorities.

Their verdict? Such a move would fundamentally change the site’s character, demanding a full planning permission process. Although there are already static caravans on part of the site, the proposal to expand this further wasn’t considered lawful under the current rules. The government’s conclusion was firm – the change would lead to a “material change of use requiring planning permission”.
So, for now, it’s business as usual with touring caravans leading the way. What do you think of the decision? Is it the right call to preserve the character of Park Farm or a missed opportunity for an upgrade? Let us know your thoughts!
