🌞🌳 Cardiff Parks Overwhelmed on Hottest Day of the Year! 🌳🌞

The sun was shining and Cardiff’s parks were the go-to spots for thousands looking to enjoy a sizzling bank holiday! Families, friends, and day-trippers filled the city’s green spaces, soaking up record-breaking May temperatures. With the mercury hitting a whopping 32.2°C, it’s no surprise everyone was out and about!

Victoria Park in Canton was buzzing, with locals flocking to the splashpad to cool off. Kids frolicked in the fountains, while adults relaxed on picnic blankets under umbrellas. But by the afternoon, the bins were struggling! Overflowing with takeaway containers, drink bottles, and food scraps, litter became a common sight around the park’s paths and seating areas.
The scene was much the same in other parks like Bute Park, as the city’s waste facilities couldn’t keep up with the crowd’s summer festivities.
The Met Office confirmed this was Wales’ hottest May day on record, surpassing the previous high from 1944! Sunday wasn’t far behind with 27.5°C, and even the night was warm, setting the stage for a scorcher on Monday.
With the week ahead still promising high twenties, it seems like Cardiff will stay in summer mode for a bit longer. 🥤🍦 Don’t forget your suncream, and maybe pack an extra bag for your rubbish next time – let’s keep our parks beautiful! 🌼
