Exciting news for renewable energy enthusiasts! Early plans are being drawn up for a major wind farm development in Bridgend’s stunning Llynfi Valley. If given the green light, the Glanllynfi Garth Wind Farm could feature up to eight towering turbines, each reaching 180m high! 🏞️🌬️

Currently, the proposal is at the pre-application stage with the Welsh Government. Pennant Walters Ltd is leading the charge, eyeing agricultural land below Moel Cynhordy and Mynydd Pwll yr Lwrch for the project. Once approved, this wind farm aims for an operational life of at least 30 years, powering up to 24,716 homes with its impressive 37MW capacity.

What’s really interesting? The turbines would be set against the backdrop of the majestic mountains between Pontycymer and Maesteg, on land also known for a historic World War Two plane crash site.

With an estimated construction period of 24 months, the wind farm would be accessible via existing tracks. If completed, it’ll join the ranks of sustainable projects like the operational Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm.
