π± Snooker Drama at the Welsh Open! π±

Mark Williams’ opening match at the Welsh Open had everyone on the edge of their seats, but not for the usual reasons! The three-time world champ faced off against Michael Holt, looking to reclaim his title after last winning it 27 years ago. π

But just after Williams bagged the first frame, an unusual pause shook the game. Holt, during his turn in the second frame, potted a long red. The ref initially called a fair shot but then took a second glance at the monitor. Turns out, Holt’s cue had just brushed against the nearby yellow, which led to a foul and a four-point boost for Williams. πΊπ€

In a curious twist, Holt snagged the frame anyway, but Williams was in no mood to mess around. After a couple of tight rounds, his expertise soared through and he clinched the last two frames, landing a spot in the second round against Martin O’Donnell. π―
At nearly 51, Williams shows he’s still got it, even without practising much between tournaments. After the game, the ‘Welsh Potting Machine’ admitted he “played solid,” despite some last-minute jitters. π±πͺ
Elsewhere, snooker star Mark Selby faced a shocker, losing 4-3 to Jiang Jun. Meanwhile, hotshot Zhao Xintong, riding high with recent wins, is a favourite to break the notorious ‘Crucible curse’ this year. Williams reckons Zhao’s got the magic touch and is ready to defend his title. ππ₯
