πΏ Want to welcome hedgehogs into your garden? Sir David Attenborough has a brilliant tip! π¦

July is prime hedgehog season as these lovable creatures are busy foraging and breeding. Spotting them at dusk or on warm evenings could be more common than you think! But did you know there’s a simple way you can help them out?

According to Attenborough, creating small openings in your garden fence could make all the difference. These “hedgehog highways” allow hedgehogs safe passage to food, mates, and nesting spots. Itβs a small change with big benefits! πΌ
Here’s how you can join the hedgehog haven movement:
1. Create a 13cm x 13cm opening at the base of your fence.
2. Encourage your neighbours to do the same.
3. Watch as your garden becomes a hedgehog hotspot, connecting green spaces and creating a safer area for these charming animals.
Urban areas are where their numbers have stabilised β and with your help, they could thrive. Letβs make our gardens a hedgehog-friendly paradise! π³π
