🚨 Shocking Road Rage Incident in Brynmenyn 🚨

A quiet morning turned nightmarish for 68-year-old Christopher Lavis when a roofer brutally assaulted him in a fit of road rage. Mr Lavis, who was driving with his wife, was following the 20mph speed limit when Christopher Shaw, 40, lost his temper over the cautious driving.
Near the Fox and Hounds pub, Shaw jumped out of his van and launched an unprovoked attack, leaving Mr Lavis with a broken nose, fractured cheekbone, and broken eye socket. The attack was so fierce that Mrs Lavis could only watch in horror as her husband began bleeding heavily.

The court heard that this vicious incident was sparked by Mr Lavis obeying traffic rules and giving way. In his emotional testimony, he shared the persistent pain and anxiety he’s endured since, noting how it’s disrupted daily life and shaken his confidence behind the wheel.

Despite Shaw initially claiming self-defence, he later admitted to the assault. His solicitor described the attack as “entirely out of character,” but the judge emphasised the inexcusable nature of Shaw’s actions. As a result, Shaw received a suspended one-year jail sentence, was ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation, complete 50 hours of unpaid work, and cover additional court costs.
This deeply distressing event is a stark reminder of the dangers of road rage and the lasting impact such senseless violence can have on victims. Let’s all remember to keep our cool and be kind on the roads. 🚗
