Heartbreaking news for Penarth RFC as a devastating fire has left their cherished clubhouse in ruins. This historic venue, a beloved home to rugby, cricket, and hockey enthusiasts, went up in flames early Monday morning due to an electrical fault. While firefighters managed to save the adjacent historic stand, the clubhouse has been completely destroyed, taking with it treasured memorabilia—shirts, trophies, and photographs that tell the rich history of the club.

In just 24 hours, the community has rallied together, raising over £6,500 to help rebuild this cherished space. The support doesn’t stop there! Rugby legend Nigel Owens has offered his heartfelt encouragement and is even open to officiating a fundraiser match to aid the club’s recovery.

Sean O’Sullivan, the club’s chairman, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the rugby community, noting that even rival teams are reaching out with kindness. “We’re devastated, but we’ll be back stronger. This community has shown us immense support, and it’s heartwarming to see everyone come together.”
Former player Mike Gooding described the aftermath as completely barren, with nothing but dust remaining. Despite the loss, the spirit of Penarth RFC remains unbroken as they focus on rising from the ashes.
Join in supporting Penarth RFC and keep the flames of community spirit alive! Every contribution brings them a step closer to rebuilding not just a clubhouse, but a home filled with stories, pride, and a sense of belonging. Let’s help them get back on their feet! 🏉❤️
