But here’s the twist – he advertised the stolen fuel online, and that’s how he got caught!
Libco Logistics in Caerphilly was hit hard, losing over £5,000 due to fraudulent fuel card activities across seven South Wales fuel stations. Sadly, Watts is the only one nabbed, despite suspicions that more were involved. Libco’s owner, Steven Walters, criticises the authorities for not catching other culprits, believing a slow police response and limited CCTV cooperation from the garages were key issues.
Watts, not an employee of Libco, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation. His actions have earned him a fine and an order to repay compensation. Despite his health struggles, including a stroke and throat cancer, he’s faced justice. However, frustration lingers as Walters is unsatisfied with this lone conviction, as key evidence was allegedly not pursued.
Libco is now in liquidation, though Walters insists this is due to losing its key client and unrelated to the fraud.
