🚂 Exciting News for Tenby! A new, accessible railway footbridge could soon become a reality at Tenby’s charming Victorian station. This new plan aims to make life much easier for everyone, especially those using wheelchairs.

Network Rail has proposed a slick, modern footbridge complete with lifts, designed to seamlessly blend with the station’s classic architecture. The current footbridge, built in 1986, doesn’t quite meet today’s accessibility standards, so this new one will certainly make a world of difference.

No more tricky barrow crossings between platforms! Instead, there’ll be a smooth, step-free route allowing wheelchair users to easily access both platforms with confidence and ease. The new structure is set to be at least 2 metres wide—plenty of space for two wheelchair users to pass each other comfortably.
While Tenby Station is technically accessible these days, it’s not entirely up to scratch with the Equality Act 2010, and it doesn’t offer the best user experience as it’s unstaffed and reliant on train crews for assistance. This new bridge promises to change all that, ensuring full accessibility and enhancing the overall charm and functionality of this historic station.
Local planning officials will soon review this promising proposal. Stay tuned for updates as Tenby takes a step closer to making train travel more inclusive and convenient for everyone! 🌟💼
