🏠 Exciting times ahead for Porthcawl! Plans have been submitted to transform the seafront with up to 980 new homes. This massive redevelopment effort spans approximately 43.6 hectares and includes a mix of everything from commercial spots to green spaces. 🌊

Imagine a new spine road from Eastern Promenade to Sandy Bay, plus a brand-new lido swimming pool, gym, coastal defences, and more leisure attractions! 🏊♂️🏖️ The proposals even include a plan for a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), expanding Griffin Park, and boosting local amenities with new shops and facilities.

🏘️ The housing plan aims for 50% of new homes to be affordable, prioritising local residents. This project could really shake things up, marking a historic change since the iconic Coney Beach Pleasure Park closed in 2025 after a century of fun and thrills.
However, not everyone’s on board, with some locals raising concerns about pressure on local infrastructure, medical services, parking, and preserving the town’s beloved identity. 🚗🏥
In response to public feedback, initial plans for 1,100 homes have been trimmed down, and building heights adjusted to preserve the view. Parking will be revamped too, with new and refurbished car parks being part of the plan. 🚗
Next steps? The planning department of Bridgend County Borough Council will consider these plans. If approved, work might start as soon as 2027. A lot of changes are coming to Porthcawl—what do you think of the plans? Let us know! 📣💬
