🌪️ Storm Amy Strikes! 🌪️

Cardiff Arms Park took a hit overnight as Storm Amy wreaked havoc with strong winds and heavy rain. The Super Rygbi Cymru showdown between Cardiff RFC and Ebbw Vale is off, thanks to a snapped set of posts at the iconic stadium. Cardiff RFC announced, “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances caused by last night’s stormy weather, our match today against Ebbw Vale will be postponed.”
Storm Amy isn’t just causing trouble in Cardiff, though. The weather has led to widespread disruptions across Wales, with lower league matches and top-tier URC games being cancelled too. After the Edinburgh vs. Ulster game was postponed, the Scarlets faced a travel nightmare en route to their match against Connacht, with their plane unable to land in Dublin and being redirected to Manchester.

Meanwhile, Cardiff Rugby’s URC clash in Munster is still expected to go ahead. But be prepared for travel chaos, as strong winds resulted in the closure of the Severn Bridge and multiple roads across Wales. A yellow wind warning is currently in place for the entire country, running from 1 pm to 8 pm today.

Across the UK, London’s royal parks, including favourites like Hyde Park and Richmond Park, are also closed due to severe winds. Park officials stressed, “The safety of visitors and staff is our top priority.”
Up in Scotland, the storm’s fierce winds caused power outages, affecting around 62,000 homes. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are hard at work to restore power, but officials warn that the storm’s effects are far from over.
Stay safe out there, everyone, and keep an eye out for further updates on the ever-unpredictable Storm Amy! 💨🌧️
