🌊 Tragic Christmas Day Swim: Kate Bush Mourns Missing Friend 💔

Music legend Kate Bush is devastated after learning her dear friend, Matthew Upham, is missing following a Christmas Day swim gone wrong. Matthew, a 63-year-old antiques dealer with a passion for the sea, was one of two swimmers who went missing at Budleigh Salterton, Devon.

The sea adventure, usually a festive tradition, took a turn when rough weather hit the coast. Emergency services sprang into action, deploying RNLI lifeboats, helicopters, and rescue teams in a major search operation. Sadly, the severe weather conditions have left Matthew and another swimmer unaccounted for.

Kate, who knew Matthew for over 30 years, shared her heartbreak, describing him as a beacon of kindness and fun. “Matthew was extraordinarily kind, full of life, and loved by everyone. The world has lost someone incredibly special,” Kate expressed in her touching tribute.
While some swimmers were rescued, Matthew’s disappearance has left a deep void. His family honours him as “deeply loved and forever missed.”
The heartbreaking incident comes amidst a Met Office warning of strong winds across the South West, with the dangers of sea swimming highlighted further by cancelled events in the region.
Let’s keep Matthew and his family in our thoughts during this difficult time. 💔🙏
