Singer Max George experiences health scare as he is rushed to hospital for heart issue

Singer Max George from The Wanted recently faced a health scare, landing him in hospital just before their US tour. After experiencing an arrhythmia, where the heart’s rhythm goes out of sync, Max had to adapt to new lifestyle restrictions following a pacemaker surgery last year. He opened up about the experience, saying it was “scary,” but he’s now on medication to keep things stable.

Max explained, “The top half of my heart was doing 50 beats, the usual, while the bottom raced to 160. It was out of sync.” With his pacemaker, Max now needs to be cautious with activities he loves, like football and skiing, to avoid complications. “You get on with it, but avoiding things you love is hard.”

He also revealed this wasn’t his first operation; he had a second surgery after a “flickering sensation” in his chest. The pacemaker was a result of a “2:1 block in my heart,” causing abnormal rhythms.
