Wayne Rooney has found himself in a spot of bother after an unexpected injury during the filming of his podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show. The Man Utd and England legend was practising some goalkeeping drills with England’s shot-stopper, Jordan Pickford, when things took a surprising turn. Diving to make an impressive save, Rooney injured his left hand and later appeared at Wembley for the FA Cup final coverage sporting a wrist support.

Rooney opened up about the incident, saying, “I went in goal and it was a great save off Jordan, but I’ve messed my hand up. I’ve been in the hospital and I’m back on Monday to see a surgeon.” Fingers crossed it won’t require surgery!

This isn’t Rooney’s first time facing the unexpected. Since hanging up his boots, he’s tried his hand at management and has settled into his role as a pundit quite naturally. While his coaching ventures might not have been as glorious as his playing days, his legendary status on the field remains undisputed. Remember his iconic FA Cup win with Manchester United in 2016?
Catch this candid Rooney moment and more on The Wayne Rooney Show, and let’s hope for a quick recovery so we can see more of his antics — hopefully with less drama next time!
