ππ Heads up, Llantwit Major! Major disruption is on the horizon as the high school is closing to most students this Thursday. Why? Teachers are striking over cuts to their vital planning and prep time, essential for top-notch lesson delivery and managing those tricky classroom behaviours. πβ

Around 30 dedicated NEU members will be rallying at the school’s gates as they fight to protect their work conditions. The dispute centres around the reduction of their Planning, Preparation, and Assessment (PPA) time to the bare minimum allowed, sparking major concerns among teachers. πβοΈ

Union leaders stress that slashing this crucial PPA time could worsen behaviour issues, an ongoing challenge cited at the school. Meetings with staff, school leadership, and local authorities have happened, but sadly it hasnβt prevented the strike. β°π«
**No textbooks on March 12th** for most, and unless the situation is resolved, expect a repeat on March 19th. The NEU emphasises that theyβre simply striving for fair treatment and to maintain teacher entitlements. Let’s hope for a speedy and harmonious resolution to this educational standoff! π€π
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is in discussions, aiming to find common ground between the NEU and the school governors. Meanwhile, fingers crossed for all the kids approaching their exams. π€π
