Wales’ Women’s team battled to a 1-1 draw against Montenegro, missing the chance to top their World Cup qualifying group. Despite dominating the first half with Hannah Cain scoring from the spot, Montenegro struck back with only 11 minutes left on the clock, leaving head coach Rhian Wilkinson less than impressed.

Wilkinson didn’t hold back, criticising the team’s lacklustre performance. “That wasn’t good enough,” she stated, referring to a complacency that crept into their play. “We didn’t earn it tonight.”
The Welsh side faced travel hiccups due to storms, but eventually made it to Stadion Pod Goricom, where they controlled possession but struggled to convert dominance into goals. A few chances went begging, with Montenegro’s Ajsa Kalac making crucial saves.

Wales had a golden opportunity right after half-time but couldn’t capitalise, and Elise Hughes’ efforts were denied by Montenegro’s determined defence. The late equaliser by Jasna Djokovic put a dent in Wales’ campaign as they now sit level on points with the Czech Republic, their upcoming opponents.
Can Wales shake off this performance and rise against the Czechs on Tuesday? Stay tuned as they push for qualifiers glory! ⚽💪 #WalesFootball #WomensWorldCupQualifiers #FootballDrama
