🚨 Shocking Attack Outside Railway Station 🚨

A festive night turned tragic for one man who was left with a fractured skull and brain bleed following an unprovoked attack outside Swansea’s High Street railway station.

After attending a Christmas do with colleagues, the unsuspecting victim was brutally punched by Carl O’Connor, a 50-year-old who had been drinking excessively at his own work event. Neither could recall the incident clearly—the victim due to his severe injuries and O’Connor because of his drunken state.
Witnesses rushed to the victim’s aid as he lay bleeding and unconscious, later taken to Morriston Hospital. His injuries have left him struggling with severe headaches, hearing loss, and anxiety, making the thought of resuming work as an HGV driver daunting.
In court, O’Connor, who had previous offences from 1998, admitted to unlawful wounding but claimed he remembered little of the night, citing excessive drinking as the cause. Despite the severity, Judge Catherine Richards noted the potential for O’Connor’s rehabilitation, handing him a nine-month prison sentence—suspended for 18 months. He must complete rehabilitation and mental health treatment, alongside a 90-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement. O’Connor was also ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation to his victim.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of how excessive drinking and a single punch can have life-altering consequences. Stay safe out there, folks! 🍻✨💔 #StaySafe #CommunitySupport #SwanseaNews
