🎒 School Trouble in Tenby! 🚧

Tenby VC School, which welcomed its first students just 10 years ago, is now facing a major hiccup. The roof of this primary school, complete with a learning resource centre, is in dire need of a complete rebuild due to water leaks, and 180 pupils will have to be relocated.

Pembrokeshire council initially set aside £75,000 for a feasibility study to assess the roof’s issues. Recent meetings have confirmed that the best solution is a full roof replacement. While that sounds straightforward, it means all the kids need to move out during construction.
Five options are up for debate on where these youngsters will go. These include moving the whole school to nearby schools Saundersfoot CP and Stepaside, scattering pupils across the Tenby area, or setting up a temporary modular village near Greenhill School.
Council’s deputy leader for education, Cllr Paul Miller, put the situation plainly: “Replace the roof or don’t, and effectively abandon that site.” As inconvenient as it is, they’re committed to ensuring a safe learning space for the students.
The decision on which relocation strategy to implement will follow a more thorough feasibility study and isn’t just about logistics—it’s also about managing costs, with some strategies potentially costing up to half a million pounds annually.
🔎 The council will continue discussions to finalise plans to ensure pupils can keep learning safely while this architectural hiccup is resolved. Stay tuned for more updates! 🏫✨
