“Stung by a Betrayal: Turning to Extra Work to Make Ends Meet this Holiday Season”

🎄 ‘Tis the season for goodwill, but for Helen Morse, it’s anything but jolly. After a shocking betrayal by someone she thought was a friend, Christmas has become more stressful than ever. Her so-called friend, Charlotte Blackwell, scammed her and three other women out of a whopping £12,682 for a bogus wedding trip.

Helen, a health administrator from Bridgend, thought she was paying for a dream getaway to Turkey for Charlotte’s wedding. Instead, she ended up with a massive hole in her finances and heartbreak. Blackwell orchestrated this scam, even lying about a heart condition to postpone the fake event—all to keep raking in the money.

Now, Helen’s been forced to pick up a second job to make ends meet for the festive season while Blackwell walks free on a suspended sentence. “All I want for Christmas is for our once-cherished friend to do the decent thing and pay us back,” Helen said, seething with frustration.

Blackwell is supposed to repay her victims £100 each per month but has only managed a pathetic £25 so far. Despite tears in court, Helen believes the tears were for herself, not her victims. “It’s maddening to see her out shopping without a care in the world,” she lamented, expressing her disbelief that such betrayal was met with mere slaps on the wrist by the justice system.

Besides her sentence for conning friends, Blackwell had also tried to scam a children’s cancer charity—a despicable act foiled just in time by the charity’s savvy founders.

Helen wants justice, not just for herself but to warn others about Blackwell’s deceit. “Beware of false friends,” she cautions, hoping her story will prevent others from falling for such wicked scams. 🎁
