According to Working Animals International, this misunderstanding stems from the fact that most of us rarely encounter these labourers in our everyday lives. The research highlights a gap between the recognition of these animals’ importance and the true extent of their contributions. Linda Edwards from the charity says these animals support millions by helping families earn income, transporting goods, and more.

Many of us underestimate their work simply because it’s not widely discussed – until now! While one in five of us assumes machines have taken over these roles, it’s animals that reach inaccessible places, cost less, and often work faster.

The survey shows a strong public push to recognise these animals formally. The charity is advocating for governments worldwide to include working animals in national censuses to safeguard their welfare.

Let’s spread the word and give these animal heroes the spotlight they deserve! 🌟
